Considering how heavily Google relies on AI now, I find it hugely ironic that I was just recommended this video about Harmony Cloak, an app that adds a noise component to music that is undetectable by human ears, but poisons AI generated music when these files are in training data fed to the AI. There first half is AI generated music based on an input tune, the second half is what the AI generates when fed with a tune treated with Harmony Cloak, an as yet not publicly available software that masks audio with the inaudible noise...

Based on research undertaken at the Mobile Sensing and Intelligence Security Lab (MoSIS Lab) at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. This, I guess, "scrambler" for finished music files is described in this article about the research on their web site. However, despite all the media hype about an "app," Harmony Cloak has not, so far, been released into the wild. There's a comprehensive survey, linked in the article, that seeks input from musicians on their opinions about AI being trained on human composed music, the implications for human musicians in an AI future and whether it's fair to artists that AI gets to listen to music for free when the rest of us have to pay for it and all of the AI research being done by Suno and others is for the express purpose of sidestepping musicians ever getting a pay check. I guess the ethics department wants to be sure musicians want their digital right protected? Who knows?

For me, it's a walk up start! Release the app! Make it a VST plug-in for audio production software! There are 2 of these apps for photography from other developers out there already, why should MoSIS Lab be holding back out of probable caution when they could be protecting musicians? I want this app! I want to poison the venture capital pirates trying to destroy the art in music, never mind the AI tools they're using. Give me the tools to poison the machines with my music! Now! It's the first app ever, that I can genuinely say I'll pay a monthly subscription for! Of all my music online, I could remaster it with an app like this in maybe a week, then only have to subscribe every so often as I put a new tune out there. This is the ultimate defence against the ultimate weapon...

Um...

Bugger :-(

...Jesus was a filesharer,
He turned the water into wine, and, Just like music sharing now, He shared the riches of his time...
